Curious about Heartland Youth Choir? Try It Out! is the perfect first step.
During Try It Out!, new singers are invited to attend a rehearsal completely free to see what choir is like before registering. It’s a fun, low-pressure way to meet directors, experience rehearsal, and find the choir that feels like the right fit.
Whether your child already loves to sing or is just getting started, we’d love to welcome them.
What is Try It Out!?
Try It Out! gives prospective singers the chance to attend a free rehearsal during one of our open rehearsal periods. Singers participate alongside current choir members and get a real feel for the Heartland Youth Choir experience.
This is a great opportunity for families to:
explore our program before committing
meet our staff and directors
see how rehearsals are run
learn which choir may be the best fit for their singer

Fall 2026 Try It Out!
September 6–25, 2026
Spring Try It Out! runs from the second Sunday in January through the second Friday in February.

Who can participate?
Try It Out! is open to new singers interested in joining Heartland Youth Choir. We offer choir experiences for a wide range of ages and grade levels, so we’ll help guide your family to the group that fits best.

What to Expect
At Try It Out!, families can expect a friendly introduction to HYC and a glimpse into our rehearsal process.
Prospective singers may:
Join part of a rehearsal
Meet HYC directors and singers
Experience age-appropriate vocal activities
Learn what weekly rehearsals feel like
Ask questions about joining HYC
Families may also receive information about registration, tuition, scholarships, rehearsal locations, and next steps.
What should they wear or bring?
Singers should wear comfortable clothes they can move and sing in. No formal concert attire is needed for a Try It Out! rehearsal.
If there is anything specific your singer should bring, our staff will let you know after registration.
How do we sign up?
To participate in a Try It Out! rehearsal, please complete the interest form below. Once we receive your information, our team will follow up with rehearsal details and help place your singer in the right choir.
